Disclaimer: Just FYI, my reviews are not spoiler-free. If you don't like spoilers, then it's probably a good idea to watch the episode first. But if you do like spoilers, then feel free to read on if you like.

The Villain

Where do I start with the villain? The villain of this episode was 'The Hotness', The same guy who showed up in season 4 episode 16 (Run, Iris, Run). He is famously known for his line "MONEY", which I was actually expecting him to say at least once in this episode. But instead of obsessing about money though, he was more of a good guy (kind of) and was just trying to get his son back. Later, there happened to be lava underneath the city due to the Hotness' emotions and powers, and it was really cool.

A possible serial killer?

Throughout this episode, several people have been 'burned'. Originally, it was thought to be the Hotness causing it, but in fact, during the last scene, Chester found out that the victims that were burned were linked to a different meta. This meta killer could potentially be the villain of this season.

Allegra and her Co-worker

Allegra and her co-worker, Taylor were forced to work on a story because Iris thought it would help them work together better. Instead, the opposite happened. As it turns out, Taylor wasn't exactly the best partner to work with, and Allegra found her old cellmate from when she was in Iron Heights. Allegra ended up working on her own story instead of working on the one she was supposed to do with Taylor. This caused major problems between them. Iris was a little disappointed at first due to what happened, but even so, she thought that her article was excellent. Because Allegra's article was gonna be put up first before Taylor's, she tried to apologize and said to her that her article would still be published the following week. Taylor got really upset and the last line that she said was "I'm gonna destroy you". I don't know what this means exactly, but my theory is that she's gonna do something horrible that will put her career at risk and make Iris want to fire her. But even if this does happen, Allegra is her boss, so she could just easily fire her or address this situation to Iris. I officially hate Taylor. She kind of reminds me of Siobhan Smythe from Supergirl (The Silver Banshee).

Barry

"You're asking us to believe in something impossible". This is my most favorite line from season 8 so far. This episode takes place on Henry Allen's birthday, which brought up a lot of emotions from Barry in this episode. What is a coincidence, is that the Hotness was being framed for the burned people and had his son taken away. This brought up the scene from season 1, when Henry was being framed for killing Nora, also being taken away from his son, Barry. Because of this, Barry was determined to prove his innocence. This episode had a sort of season 1 feel to it, due to the flashbacks and the situation. If you remember, in season 2 of Arrow, before The Flash even started, Barry was using his CSI skills to try to prove that people with powers are real in an effort to try to somehow prove his father's innocence. This shows that Barry hasn't really changed and still tries to help people even if no one believes him.

Conclusion

This episode was really good. I really liked the nostalgic feeling it had and how this episode starts the official season 8 storyline. I am very excited for what's to come; I have seen some of the future episode titles. They scare me a little bit because one of them mentions a funeral, so I really hope that no one from team flash dies. But if someone does, which I'm pretty sure someone will, then I hope it's Taylor.

So that's my review for season 8, episode 8. If you made it to the end, I hope you liked it. Feel free to let me know what are your thoughts on the episode and what other reviews would you like to see.
